To the Women I Love: You Deserve More Than This World Gives You

by | Truths

The women I love

This letter is for every woman I’ve ever loved, respected, and learned from. But it’s also for anyone who needs to feel seen.

You don’t need me to write this letter.

You’ve survived worse with less.

But I’m writing it anyway, because silence feels like betrayal, and you deserve more than quiet admiration. You deserve to be seen. Not filtered, not edited, not explained away. Seen.

I’ve spent my life surrounded by incredible women. Raised by them. Loved by them. Taught by them. Wrecked and rebuilt by them. And still, I know I’ve only scratched the surface of what it really means to live in this world as a woman.

What it costs.

What it takes.

What it steals.

What it demands.

This letter isn’t here to educate. You already know the rules, the bullshit ones written in double standards and whispered threats, in tight smiles and louder laughs that cover the discomfort of being underestimated, interrupted, dismissed, policed, or feared for being too much
 or not enough.

No, this letter is a reminder.

A reminder that I see you.

I see the armour you wear that no one thanks you for. I see the invisible labour you carry like oxygen, constant, unnoticed, essential. I see how you show up, even when you’re unraveling. How you make space for others even when you’re crowded by your own pain. I see your fire and your fear and your fucked up hope that maybe, just maybe, one day it won’t feel like a fight just to exist.

I see you when you’re strong. I see you when you’re exhausted. I see you when you’re angry. I love your anger. Don’t let anyone water it down. Your rage is righteous. Let it burn away what never should have been built.

You are not difficult. You are not dramatic. You are not asking for too much. You are asking for what you deserve. And I will never stop saying that out loud.

To the women I love, my wife, my daughters (yes, that includes you Paige), my friends, the students who changed my life and the strangers who remind me to do better, I am better because of you. I am learning because of you. I believe because of you.

You’ve held me accountable. You’ve called me in. You’ve trusted me. And that trust means everything. It is not owed. It is not guaranteed. I will never take it for granted.

To every woman who has felt unseen, unheard, unworthy, hear this now:

You are not too loud.

You are not too sensitive.

You are not too much.

You are fucking magnificent.

You are made of stardust and steel. You carry galaxies in your chest and still show up with kindness on your breath. That’s not weakness. That’s goddamn divinity.

And while I will never fully understand your experience, I will keep trying. I will keep showing up. I will keep listening, learning, standing beside you, and sometimes behind you, not because you need protecting, but because I will never block your light.

This world has done its best to dim you.

Let this letter be proof it didn’t work.

You are loved.

You are powerful.

You are not alone.

Always in your corner,

Jason.
