Con Job
Yeah, it’s my actual shoe. But Con Job isn’t just a portrait of well-worn canvas—it’s a self-portrait in disguise. A reflection on identity, rebellion, branding, and the personal myths we lace up every damn day.
The title is a layered wink: “Con” as in Converse, but also “Con” as in the con we all run—on the world, on ourselves. We play parts. We perform. We present a version of us we think will fit in, stand out, be enough. This shoe’s been with me through a lot of that theatre. It’s been to meetings and mosh pits, parent-teacher conferences and late-night design sprints. It’s been scuffed, bent, and nearly tripped over more times than I can count—and yet, here it is. Still standing.
Because sometimes the “con” is surviving.
Sometimes it’s pretending you’re fine when you’re unraveling.
Sometimes it’s art.
This is a love letter to the absurd, to the everyday, to the personal things that carry our weight while we figure it all out.

Technique:
Built in Procreate using layered digital brushes and textured overlays, Con Job combines realism with stylized whimsy. The background bleeds with sun-washed yellows and dirty footprints, grounding the floating subject in memory and grit. Sketch lines are intentionally imperfect because perfection, like branding, is the real con.
